Don't we all have those favorite authors we keep going back to whenever they have a new book coming out? I know I do. Some authors I enjoy so much I find myself re-reading their books from time to time. Joining us once again is today's guest in My Writing Corner, Virginia Barlow. She has just had her second book in the One Scoop or Two series published by The Wild Rose Press called Key Lime Coconut Curse.
Virginia appeared in My Writing Corner a few weeks ago, where we featured her first book in TWRP's One Scoop or Two Series called S’mores Siren Song. As she told us, she has been married to her best friend for 39 years. When she isn't writing, she says she loves to knit, crochet and quilt.
Let's get a blurb:
Tilly O’ Brian returns to Key West, Florida following a brutal divorce and her ex wants revenge. When Cole Turner follows her home, she isn’t sure if he’s her ex’s newest spy or the dark warlock coming to steal the family talisman. But the powerful chemistry between them won’t be denied.
Cole Turner has been hired to get information on Tilly. With one look, he realizes she’s innocent and a witch. Powerful warlocks and demons converge on Key West and Tilly’s life is in danger. They must focus their power to survive.
Then there’s the matter of the curse….
Doesn't that peak your interest as a fun summer read? Want to learn more, let's get an excerpt:
She set the spoon down and stared at the dish. If it wasn’t the ice cream, it must be the customer. Aunt Mable was wrong. Her customer/stalker had to be the dark warlock.Tilly stood and hurried to the front. “I’m going down to the beach for a few minutes. I’ll be right back. If anything happens, you can text or call.” She smiled at Kamie as she closed the shop door behind her.
Once she reached the beach, Tilly dialed Aunt Mable and filled her in on the events in the store and her suspicions. She walked the beach and kept her distance from other people so she wasn’t overheard. The conversation was private and for Aunt Mable’s ears only.
Silence filled the other end of the line. “You think the stranger is here for the talisman?”
“Yes.” Tilly glanced around and quickened her step. A couple of joggers ran up behind her. She turned around and slowed her pace so they could pass. “What other explanation is there?”
“Your stalker is not the black warlock. In my vision, he’s shorter, and his hair is darker.”
She clasped the phone to her ear. “How can you be sure? You haven’t seen the man who’s been following me?”
Aunt Mable chuckled. “I did see him. I asked the stones to reveal him to me this morning, and they did. I must admit, he’s one fine-looking man. If I were younger, I’d go after him. He’s got quite a nice package.”
Tilly froze. “The stones showed you his ‘package’?” Her voice rose an octave.
“He was in the shower when I asked the stones about him.” Her aunt’s voice was matter of fact, as if spying on naked men were a regular thing. “I didn’t know he got up at six a.m. to shower. Nor did I anticipate he would turn to rinse the lather off his back while I watched.”
Tilly choked. “Jeez, Auntie, did you see anything else?”
Aunt Mable chuckled. “Asking for a friend?
Tilly rolled her eyes. She realized how it sounded as soon as the words burst from her mouth. “No. Did you see anything else, as in, something magical like a talisman, grimoire, or mystical object? Something revealing he’s a warlock?”
Her aunt sighed. “No, just his beautiful, muscular body.”
Tilly closed her eyes. Sometimes her imagination worked too well. “So, do you think the ice cream is cursed and caused the situation earlier, or another witch is in town and causing mischief?”
“I don’t know.” Aunt Mable’s voice faded off as if she were a million memories away.
